Transformative AI companies need access to capital at critical stages of growth to commercialize innovation, compete globally and create lasting economic value.

BMO is supporting that journey through a strategic investment in the Radical Breakouts Fund, a new venture capital strategy from Radical Ventures focused on helping high-growth AI companies scale into global leaders. The fund represents the largest venture capital fundraise in Canadian history and has secured more than US$1 billion in commitments from leading institutional investors.

“Canada has the talent and the resources to be an innovation leader across the board: from discovery to commercialization and adoption – helping to build the next era of world-class companies and the technologies that power them. As Canada's first bank, we've been investing in innovation for centuries and are proud to support this next generation."
Darryl White, Chief Executive Officer, BMO Financial Group

The investment reflects BMO’s commitment to strengthening Canada’s innovation ecosystem and supporting the commercialization of technologies that create long-term value for businesses, communities and the broader economy.

As BMO advances its AI strategy to enhance client experiences, augment employee expertise and automate routine processes, its Responsible AI Principles guide how the bank builds, operates and uses AI. Strong governance, risk management and oversight provide a foundation for scaling innovation with empathy, integrity and trust.
